Martha Ossowska Persson’s work involves a thorough investigation of the human body and built-in human behaviors. She captures bodies and limbs in moments of involuntary touch or pleasurable tactile games. Like a contact with the sudden notion that arises with physical touch – that which can be perceived as either concern or threat. Each layer is charged, and invokes images of lurking and breakout. A kind of curiosity and exploration guides her through corporeality where the body transforms into a landscape for excursions. It is an ambivalent balancing act where the artist moves from the seductive and beautiful to the fragile and violent. A close-up that turns into an abstraction. An examination that takes place in the space between, both in the painting and in what is hidden in the void.
