CARL MAGNUS
Visual artist born in 1943 in Halmstad, Sweden. Since the late 70s, Carl Magnus has lived in Lund, where he previously had his studio.
Carl Magnus is a giant in Swedish art history. The list of his public missions and the museums in which he is represented is long. The artist was a member of the artist collective Bauhaus Situaniste Drakabygget in the circle around the Danish artist Jørgen Nash. He has been head teacher in sculpture at the Valand Academy of Arts in Gothenburg and professor of painting at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm. During the 1960s, the artist painted expressive and powerful paintings. Later he moved on to creating sculptures and paintings made up of simple geometric shapes with symbols such as obelisks, pyramids and stairs. An ongoing dialogue with architecture and art.
Car Magnus is primarily known for his minimalist design language and his conceptual investigations of time, space and perception. Since 1992 he is member of the Royal Academy of Arts. The artworks in the exhibition are part of Carl Magnus´private collection.
