KÖRNER & MOREAU

Artist duo. Robert Moreau born in 1960 in Malmö, Sweden and Kristian Körner born in 1973 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Moreau is educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and the Academy of Fine Arts in Malmö. Körner is educated at the Glasgow School of Art. They both live and work in Malmö.

Körner & Moreau have been working together since 2015. In their work, with expression in pictorial objects, sculpture, photography and video, there is an ongoing investigation of the material and the processes that control perception. In the majority of exhibitions, they have used photographic materials and archives, or objects that are part of the art institution’s space, such as the museum bench. The latter functions here both as a reflection on seeing and as a gateway between being the observer and the observed.

The work Subjekt och predikat (Subject and Predicate) is based on the simplest building blocks of art; colour, shape and a place for the viewer. Monochrome colour surfaces add meaning to an everyday object that changes and acquires other, more linguistic functions. The balancing act that occurs forms an intersection where colour theory and language theory meet.
