KRISTINA MATOUSCH
Visual artist. Born in 1974 in Kalmar, Sweden. Kristina Matousch is educated at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm 1995-2000. She lives and works in Långasand. Member of the Royal Academy of Arts since 2022.
Matousch explores various aspects of holes. The series Silent Eggs, for example, is a hole system based on egg flakes. She works with an aesthetic that combines a minimalist style with a deep conceptual investigation. Her works are often industrially manufactured, which means that surfaces and cuts become precise and sharp in contrast to the human body and the imprint of the hand. The works deal with existential questions. The artist often finds subjects to process in everyday objects and chores. Frying meatballs can for example be the starting point for a new work of art. Life charges the materials.
